Each year the Cub Scout pack has a fishing trip to the Ft. Desoto Pier. This year went well. Spencer actually was grabbing his own shrimp out of the bucket. He did not do much fishing but Dad caught a few small fish for him. The fish were fun to catch with his little Zebco reel.

Here is a video snippet from the day:

We have had a busy Spring. Most of the activities have been with Scouts but some others have just been with friends. Here are a few of the special moments:

First Fish caught!

That's right Spencer caught his first fish all on his own. Not only that it was the very first fish caught on the weekend of the Council Camp. We were the first group to fish and Spencer landed a whopper with a piece of corn! Way to go Spencer! [Fish in picture has been magnified for actual proof there is a fish there!]

Crossed the Monkey Bridge!

Spencer crossed the entire monkey bridge on his own. His friends were very supportive and even though it was scary he did it! Afterwards when asked how he did it, Spencer said "There was no other way down, it was too high to jump, so I just walked to the end." <-- This is a true statement!

First Pie in the Cub Master's Face

The Cub Master, Brian, made a deal with the scouts that if they attended every meeting in a Class A uniform that they would get to put a pie in the Cub Masters face. Spencer just happened to make it to the front of the line [Dad had the pies] and got to throw the first one!

Step 1 - Spencer Readys the Pie and chooses from 3 Leaders to slap with it, Notice how clean they look.

Step 2 - Spencer lets loose on the Cub Master!

Way to go Spencer !

Spencer got his Wolf badge this week. He completed all the items he needed in order to accomplish this. Next year he will be moving on to be a Bear Scout.

We also went camping this weekend at Camp Soule for a Council Family Camp. There were 2 other Den 3 boys there and this made it even more enjoyable. Spencer caught the first fish, did some archery (hit the target), and crossed the Monkey bridge. He really did well and tried his best to participate in all the activities. I was very proud of him.

Once again Spencer's site has changed. What is this the 3rd or 4th version of the site. Who knows ?

Now I have setup a blog format for the site. Gallery is still online at the usual location http://www.spencershell.com/album and is likely where you are headed.

This blog is a lot more powerful then the previous news system I was using so hopefully it will offer more features and we can get more folks involved in the writing. I am thinking about getting Spencer involved also soon.
